If that’s any indication of how funny the movie will be then get yourself to the theater August 10, 2012. Moderator Chris Hardwick (who is hysterically funny in his own right) and The Campaign stars, Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis, plus some incredibly charming and offbeat fans asking questions made this the funniest panel of the week.
This one is going to be hard to write up because so much of comedy is in the timing and delivery. So we’ll just give you some highlights.
.
When Will and Zach came out to the stage, instead of sitting next to one another at the table that could fit about 12 Will sat as far away as possible from Zach, mostly because he knew the video cameras wouldn’t be able to get them in the same shot.
.
Chris asks how they’re doing:
Will: I’m doing great, Zach?
Zach: I’m not doing too well, thanks for asking.
.
This is Will’s second time at Comic-Con and he said that Zach made him a mask so he could go down to the exhibit hall floor, then he holds up a paper mask with his own face on it and puts it on.
.
A want to be comedian, turned “stripper” asked for comedy advice. Will pretended he thought the guy said “shrimper” instead of stripper. Zach asked the guy to do a joke. It was really bad and initially Will and Zach were laughing, by the end they turned stone faced because it was so bad it was funny.
.
During the trailer people were laughing so hard all you could smell was people’s breath. THIS WAS NOT FUNNY OR ENJOYABLE. The trailer is funny though.

.
The question was posed if the baby who Will punches was real. Will said it was and that was one of the benefits of shooting down in New Orleans. He also said it was the first cinematic punch of a baby.
.
One fan asked if there were any political situations they find hilarious, no fiction required.
Zach: The entire Bush administration.
Will: Yeah, that was a funny 8 years.
.
One fan got the guys to do impromptu campaign speeches in character.
.
The whole thing was essentially the most hilarious, free comedy show you could imagine. The guys riffed off of everything they were given and it really, really looks like this comedy pairing could be exactly what we’re looking for in an antidote to watered-down, misfiring comedies of the last year.
.
Also, thanks to one fan’s decisive question the world now knows that it takes Zach’s beard about 2 months to grow.
.
Unlike most movies at Comic-Con you don’t have long to wait for this one. It comes out August 10th, just in time to really start being bombarded with real election stuff. The antidote for something else!
