2012 MTV Movie Awards Recap – Biggest Moments, Red Carpet Blunders, and More!

.
“TONIIIIIIGHT, WE ARE YOUNG!” No more perfect words can be said about the MTV Movie Awards, and band-of-the-moment Fun. kicked off the evening’s events with the perfect amount of energy. Host Russell Brand then took the stage, throwing out zingers to (and about) the audience.

No one was safe from Brand’s biting tounge, including Justin Bieber – recently in the news for his legal troubles with the paparazzi.
.
“I imagine that even as the horror of incarceration closes in on Justin Beiber, at least he’ll be thinking “at least I got away from the screaming girls!”
.
Kim Kardashian was fair game, as well:

“Kim took a lot of pressure off me with her world record marriage. Cheers, Kim!”
.
Even notable nude scene-stealer Michael Fassbender (a former classmate of Brand’s) got a shoutout:
.
“I didn’t notice Michael Fassbender’s huge, gorging talent, because I was too busy staring at his huge c*ck.”
.
And finally, before the awards were given out, a tiny dig at Brand himself:
.
“Last time I hosted an MTV Awards I did end up marrying someone that was there. So I’m keeping my eyes open for my next wife.”
.
Mila Kunis and Mark Wahlberg give away the first award for biggest dirtbag, but not after Kunis was heckled by a crowd member. Jennifer Aniston took home the golden popcorn, in a choice that seemed a little surprising, considering the fact that no one would actually call her a dirtbag in actuality.

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield came on a supremely spidey-ed out stage to give out the trophy for “best breakthrough performance” which seems fitting, considering the star status that they’ve both recently achieved. ‘The Descendents’ star Shaliene Woodley took the trophy home, nervously walking onstage and admitting that she was sweating like a pig. She thanked the usual parties, but her biggest shootout went to the state of Hawaii, which she said “changed her life.”

Those who watched the pre-show were treated to the first look at the trailer for ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower,’ but the cast (Emma Watson, Ezra Miller, and Logan Lehrman) was on-hand to present the award for best male performance, a category that couldn’t be harder to beat. ‘The Hunger Games’ star Josh Hutcherson took home the gold snack food for his portrayal of lovelorn tribute Peeta Mellark, and gushed “Oh My God! I’ve wanted to hold a golden popcorn since I was like 4 years old!

The petite Kristen Stewart was joined by her God-like ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ co-star Chris Hemsworth to present best female performance, but not before the women of the audience swooned audibly. Winner Jennifer Lawrence (none other than Katniss Everdeen) took home the trophy, but was only able to accept the award from Prague, as she was on the set of her latest film.

Party guy extraordinaire Charlie Sheen introduced the flick ‘Project X’ as an “instant cult classic,” and then broke down the necessary components a film would need to possess in order to get the Sheen stamp of approval. Beer, babes, more beer, and destruction were just a few on the list. Wiz Khalifa brought endless energy to the crowd, who held the typical red solo cups in homage of the film.
.
While presenting the award for best kiss, Adam Sandler told an awkward (and potentially untrue?) story about getting drunk at a bachelor party and having an oiled up stripper fall into his mouth and making out with her for a half hour. And then Andy Samberg told the crowd that he made out with his dog’s buttonhole. So… that was gross.

Winner Kristen Stewart came onstage to accept the award solo, an unorthodox occasion in this category. So she solicited her other co-stars to help re-enact her smooch with beau Robert Pattinson – “Where’s my Huntsman? Taylor, old friend? Charlize, help a girl out!” Ultimately, she did her best to re-create the moment on her own. Not quite as steamy, but it’ll do.

Looking a little haggard (and very much clad in animal print) rockers Joe Perry and Stephen Tyler honored Johnny Depp with the generation award. After a lengthy montage of Depp’s work, The Black Keys took to the stage with Depp himself, who joined in on guitar for the band’s hit “Gold on the Ceiling,” and then again for “Lonely Boy,” after he graciously accepted the honor from MTV.
.
Since archery was such a theme this year, with things like ‘The Hunger games’ and ‘Game of Thrones’ dominating everyone’s pop culture tastes, leave it to Joel McHale to appear as a loathed archery coach to the stars.

.
Charlize Theron kicked the ever-loving sh!t out of Michael Fassbender when they presented the trophy for best fight, after he joked that he should just handle it, since he was Irish, and a man.
.
Though she rolled solo, Emma Watson was more than thrilled to accept the award for best cast for herself, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and the rest of the ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Pt. II’ cast.

.
Hot guy alert! Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey were in the house to promote their film ‘Magic Mike,’ also known as the movie brimming with handsome guys. They handed the award for best transformation to ‘The Hunger Games’ star Elisabeth Banks (in a bit of a questionable fashion choice), who swooned and gyrated on her handsome presenters, later to be carried off-stage by ‘True Blood’ hottie Joe Manganiello.

The presentation of the first-ever trailblazer award to the lovely Emma Stone was sort of a love fest. A few of her co-stars (including Jason Sudekis) got in a few jabs. It wouldn’t be the MTV Movie Awards if it weren’t a little snarky, right?

.
And for one of the awesomest moments of the night – Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, and Joseph Gordon Levitt showcased a ‘Dark Knight’ montage, that led up to a hugely exciting moment of nerdery – Christopher Nolan introducing an exclusive clip of ‘The Dark Knight Rises.’

The legendary Jodie Foster presented the night’s final golden popcorn statue – movie of the year, one that was voted on by fans throughout the show. The winner? The tale of Bella and Edward’s long-awaited wedding, ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Pt. 1.’ With that Kristen Stewart took the stage a third time, accepting the award on behalf of the film along with Taylor Lautner and the rest of the cast.

The red carpet was a bit of a hit or miss affair, with more than a few starlets opting for different looks.
.
Jessica Biel opted for a short white number, heavy on the bangs.

.
Charlize Theron was daring in red, but we dare say she pulled it off.

Not only is Julianne Hough looking like she doesn’t know what to do with her hands in this photo, her cutout ensemble showcases her abs in a weird way. She’s got the bod to show off, though, that’s for sure!

Leighton Meester brought out her best pillow cases for the affair!

Andy Samberg is goofy cute as always, but what’s with the shoes?

‘Bridesmaids’ star Ellie Kemper looks pretty adorable in this floral print ensemble.
