The One Life I Saved In Middle School


When I was attending middle school I was 11 years old, the middle school I went to was very much filled with students such as myself who were growing up in environments filled with poverty, crime, drugs, gangs & weapons, so the middle school I attended reflected that image. My school had fights everyday and if kids weren’t fighting they were being locked up or suspended from school, that was considered a normal day at my middle school in PG County. Sometimes I would attend class and others I would skip classes with my friends but I always made it to gym class because it was fun, although my gym class teacher wasn’t the most liked individual in my school because a lot of the students felt he was unfair by the way he treated people so no body really liked him and some even despised him. One cold winter day in gym class we had to exercise outside in very low even close to freezing temperature and our gym teacher wouldn‘t allow us to wear any coats we had to train outside in gym shorts and a gym t-shirt, that‘s another reason why nobody liked the gym teacher, that day I guess our gym teacher had instructed one of the students to follow his directions in a very aggressive and offensive manner and got into a argument with the student he instructed while we were outside training, I wasn’t paying to much attention at the time because the gym teacher was always getting on somebody’s case but once the two stopped arguing is when the tension grew, I guess the student didn’t take things lightly in fact as soon as the gym teacher turned his back, that one student picked up a rock from the field we were on that was the size of his hand and lunged it at the gym teachers head, that kid had a good aim to a degree that the rock struck the teacher directly on the back of his head while he was 20 feet away. The gym teacher instantly collapsed to the ground as blood started gushing out of his head, mean while the majority of the kids that witnessed started cheering because they despised the gym teacher so much, “it was a very crazy moment during my adolescents I had never seen anything like that before in school“, then after the majority of the kids finished cheering they left with out any sort of concern for the gym teacher who happened to be the only adult out side at the time, the gym teacher was unconscious and his scull was gushing blood, out of 40 students only 4 of us stayed behind and that’s including me, no one knew what to do at the time it was a state of shock and panic. My instincts automatically kicked in and my first thought was we need t stop the bleeding or else the gym teacher is going to die! so I took off my shirt even though  it was freezing out side and applied pressure to the wound on the back of his head then told the other students to go in the school get help and call 911 so the remaining kids rushed to find help while I stayed with the gym teacher and applied as much pressure as possible to the back of his scull until paramedics arrived. Once the ambulance arrived 10 minutes later and took control of the situation my shirt was drenched with this mans blood it was very graphic and  horrific, the paramedic told me that if I hadn’t helped this man the way I did through my actions he would have died. I saved that man’s life and he never even knew because he was unconscious and didn’t regain consciousness until he reached the hospital from what they told me. After that I went back inside put on my normal clothes and went to class and then went home and told my mother what happened she was shocked to say the least and decided it was time to move to a better neighbor hood. The gym teacher stop teaching after that and never visited the school but from what the school staff told me he made a full recovery. That’s one of the lives I saved through out my life time theirs a few more life stories which I will be posting shortly. I want to give people an idea of what has taken place through my experiences in life, so I have decided to release a book based on my life story which I project to release in the fall of 2011.
